Place-Based Violence Interventions

Managed by Department of Public Health

Data last updated on Aug 23, 2023

The Community Safety Coordination Center is implementing place-based violence interventions that address the infrastructure needs of the communities most impacted by violence while also providing resources and support to create safe spaces.

The overarching goal of the CSCC's Place-Based Interventions is to drive resources to and improve public safety perception in the communities at highest risk of violence, specifically in the top 5% most violent blocks defined by the number of fatal and non-fatal shootings from 2016 to 2022. The CSCC’s place-based strategy is comprised of the following activities: addressing infrastructure through streetscape improvement and lot cleaning; safe space activation supports; a Home and Business Protection Program; and High Risk Intervention Teams.
