Household lead abatement program

This program will fund the removal of lead and other hazards to increase safety and health outcomes in homes with young children.

Chicago Recovery Plan funding is enabling expansion of the the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and Healthy Homes Program to make more households with young children safe from lead and other health hazards, particularly in communities with the highest prevalence of childhood lead poisoning.

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and Healthy Homes Program is a comprehensive program that provides targeted home inspections for lead and other health hazards, helps families apply for funding to remediate/abate hazards, provides nurse case management to families with lead-poisoned children, delivers training and education about reducing home health hazards, and builds partnerships to ensure eligible households have access to services.

With CRP funding, more households will be income-eligible for grant funding to remediate or abate lead hazards - which are primarily from lead paint - and there will be more funding to address non-lead related home health hazards.
