Direct homebuyer assistance program
Managed by Department of Housing
Data last updated on Aug 23, 2023This program will provide grants to homebuyers in neighborhoods most acutely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to expand homeownership.
Through the Micro-Market Recovery Program (MMRP), purchase price assistance grants support homeowners purchasing in fifteen target areas around the City of Chicago. Targeted community areas include Auburn Gresham, Austin, Chatham, Chicago Lawn, West Garfield Park, Englewood, Hermosa, West Humboldt Park, New City, West Pullman, South Shore, Woodlawn, Fuller Park, North Lawndale, and South Lawndale. The MMRP program is based on three principles: strategic targeting of resources to small geographies, collaborative deployment of those resources by private, public and non-profits partners, and comprehensively utilizing those resources to address the specific needs of families, buildings, and blocks.
